Hearts Close Gap On Kotoko After Protest Win

Accra Hearts of Oak have been handed a great boost in their bid for a seventh successive premiership title after the disciplinary committee awarded them two points in their protest against Mine Stars.

The extra two points means Hearts are now just a point adrift of Kumasi Asante Kotoko as the Premier League resumes. The GFA Disciplinary Committee ruled that Mine Stars had fielded an unqualified player, Isaac Owusu in their second round match recently. The FA said Mine Stars had failed to register the player properly to after he spent last year on loan at the club.

Mine Stars were also declared losers in their match against RTU and would drift way down in the relegation stakes. The Miners are considering taking the GFA to court as a result.

For Hearts though, the ruling from the FA is a great boost as they seek to overtake Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the top of the national Premier League.

It sets the stage for a thrilling final lap for the league title with both sides billed to play some tough matches against the likes of Great Olympics, King Faisal, Obuasi Goldfields among others.
