THE management of Accra Hearts of Oak has debunked rumours making rounds that it has any intentions of throwing their Champions League match against F/C 105 which takes place this Sunday at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium. Soon after the Hearts team went down 0-2 to Real Tamale United at the Tamale Sports Stadium last Sunday, the Acting Chairman of Hearts Mr. Harry Zakkour said they are aware of the rumours flying around and believe it emanated from certain individuals who have personal motives to drag the name of the club in the mud. Mr. Zakkour said it was rather unfortunate that at the time they have tried their best to put together a winning team, other individuals who have cynical ideas about the club officials would begin to propagate falsehoods all in an attempt to shift their focus from Sunday's encounter.
The Acting Hearts Chairman again stressed that “I don't think any member of the club has ever come up with this horrible idea let alone we accepting it. We would do our best against FC/105 on Sunday because we need to win to progress to the next stage of the competition. I want all the fans of the club to understand that we have no such intention to play a match of convenience with our Gabonese counterparts so I entreat everyone to treat the rumour with all the contempt it deserves”. Though the Hearts Chairman admitted that victory would not come that easily as some fans of the club have stressed, he said the players would receive additional winning bonuses should they progress to the next stage of the competition on Sunday. He appealed to all the Phobian faithful to fill the Ohene Djan Stadium on Sunday to cheer the players on to overcome their opponents. He warned the Gabonese that they should discard the notion that Hearts will play it soft and prepare to meet their match.
