Hearts of Oak coach Mohammed Polo has launched a scathing attack on some locally-based players describing them as lazy.
There has been a debate on whether home-based players deserve places in Kwesi Appiah’s World Cup squad.
This was after Aduana Stars goalkeeper Stephen Adams became the only player from the Ghana Premier League to make the preliminary squad.
Polo, a member of Ghana’s 1978 Africa Cup of Nations, believes players in the domestic top-flight need to put in impressive shifts to convince national team selectors.
“Some of the players themselves are lazy and do not want to work but yet expect to get call ups from the national team,” Polo told Accra-based Power FM.
“This is why it is very important for these players to know that this is their future, career, profession and must work under any kind of situations or conditions.’’
