Accra, Aug 14, GNA - The Management and National Chapters Committee (NCC) of Accra Hearts of Oak in a bid to have a database of their supporters, on Thursday, launched a new Identity Card system in Accra. Launching the cards, Mr Maxwell Addo, Treasurer of the team said the identity card system has been necessitated by the new style being adopted by management to ensure the smooth running of the club.

He said the card, which would entitle its holder to certain privileges like rebates at the gates and advance season tickets would cost 30,000 cedis and will be valid for one calendar year.

Mr Addo said a percentage of the revenue will go into the running of the club while another fraction goes into the maintenance of the various chapters.

"To ensure prudent management of funds that will accrue from the sale of the cards, an independent board of trustees will be set up to invest the proceeds to strengthen the financial base of the club." He said the cards will help the team to know the actual number of supporters it has in order to attract the necessary sponsorship, which the club needs in view of the rising cost of soccer administration. Mr Elliot Adom, Managing Director of Raddom Ads, management consultants for the project said it is time for Hearts to start using its huge marketing potential and the identity card system will be an important step forward.

He said proceeds from the sale of the cards will provide the NCC and the club some cash, which would enable them to have some revolving fund for their organisation work.

Mr Ato Quargrine, Chairman of the NCC urged all supporters, especially those who do not belong to any chapter, to join one to ensure that they enjoy the privileges guaranteed by the card. He urged supporters of the club to ensure that the club gets another source of funding for the running of the club, aside proceeds from the gate.

Present at the ceremony were Mr Tommy Okine, Chief Executive of Hearts, Alhaji Hearts, Fiifi Forson, Clement Doodo and Stephen Akwetey all management members.
