Hearts loses Patron

Accra, Nov 26, GNA - Mr Samuel Tetteh Nettey, Spiritual Head and Patron of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club has passed away. The late ST as he was affectionately called was the son of the Principal Founder of the Club, Asafoatse C.B. Nettey.

According to a statement signed by Mr. Ashford Tettey-Oku, Administrative Manager of Hearts copied to the GNA Sports, Tettey Nettey who died peacefully last Wednesday, was 98 years old. The statement described Mr Tettey Nettey as someone with a distinguished record of serving the club as a Player, Chaplain, Director and Patron before his departure.

He also served as Commissioner of Labour and Social Welfare under the regime of the late General J.A Ankrah of the National Liberation Council (NLC).

The statement said funeral arrangement will be announced later. In a related development the statement added that the body of the late Robert Kwesi Akotsiaba Hayfron will be flown from London this week for burial on Friday, November 30, 2007 after burial service at the Calvary Methodist Church, Adabraka.

The late Kwesi Hayfron was said to be a dedicated and loyal servant of the club and one of the mainstay of the late Tommy Thompson administration and served as Deputy Chairman in charge of Finance and Administration.
