Hearts have secured a work permit for their Ivorian striker Edikeu Berenger and now available for the remaining nine matches of the First Capital Plus Premier League.

Berenger was signed during the second transfer window but had to wait for clearance from the Ghana Immigration Service to complete his registration.

All paper works were completed two weeks ago and eligible to play for the first team.

The 20-year-old played a cameo role in the Reserves defeat at Medeama last week when he came off the bench to teed-up Maxwell Boakye to score.

Berenger, who spent four seasons with Georgian second division side Lazika FC, is delighted at the opportunity to play in the Ghanaian top-flight

"I am happy to get my work permit after all this while, and I am pleased that I can now play fully for Accra Hearts of Oak,” Berenger told Hearts News.

"I just have to work hard all the time to make it into the first team.

"I had an outing for the Reserves, but unfortunately we lost that day. We had a lot of positives on the day, and I enjoyed my time on the field.

"I am working hard every day at training and after training, because I know the fans expect a lot from me and I do not want to disappoint them. I am working hard to make them happy when I get the chance.

"I know the fans are disappointed because of our results, and they are not happy now. But we want them to be patient with us at all times because very soon, everything will be ok.”

Hearts of Oak will face AshantiGold on Wednesday in the league as they seek to keep snapping at the heels of leaders Asante Kotoko.
