Hearts players threaten to boycott Esperance game

Some aggrieved players of Accra Hearts of Oak have threatened to boycott the second leg of their Caf Confederations cup match against Esperance if outstanding salary and bonuses are not paid, according to report.

In an exclusive interview with myfinalwhistle.com, some of the players who pleaded for strict anonymity divulged that they intend to boycott the Esperance game if their outstanding salary and bonuses are not cleared.

“Our three months’ salary and bonuses are in arrears and we have indicated to management that we shall boycott the game if we are not paid,” one of the aggrieved players lamented.

Sources say lack of motivation among the playing body contributed immensely to the 4-0 embarrassing defeat of the team in Tunisia over the weekend.

It is widely believed that players have still not received bonuses promised them before the encounters against Olympique D’ Ngor and AC Djoliba.

The Phobians, who remains Ghana’s sole representative in Africa, take on Esperance on May 31 in Accra with the hope of overturning a 4-0 deficit.
