Hearts to get tough at the gates

Accra, June 28, GNA - The Management of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club has warned fans that henceforth only supporters of the Club with complimentary cards for the VIP, Presidential and the Upper terrace would be allowed to enter the stadium and watch the Club's matches for free. The Club said the new directive would hold for all matches involving Hearts at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, Accra or wherever the Club is deemed to be playing at home.

Mr Thomas Okine, Chief Executive of the Club in a statement copied to the GNA Sports said the new directive is to ensure that the Club maximise enough returns from the gates to meet its huge overhead expenditure. It said that with the new development, it means that any other identification including letters or decisions purporting to grant free access to any group of people who hitherto enjoyed that privilege is being revoked.

The statement explained that, "in a professional world where every service comes at a huge cost, it is highly unattainable and does not portray good business sense to allow some people to enjoy the services of the Club for free". It asked all supporters who have been affected by the new directive to bear with the management since the idea is to diversify the Club's income sources as well as other ventures whilst streamlining the traditional base of revenue collection to ensure better running of the Club.
