A former skipper of Accra Hearts of Oak, Jacob Nettey, is strongly backing the Phobians to beat Kumasi Asante Kotoko in Ghana’s version of El-Clasico on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The two most celebrated teams in the country will battle it out for the maximum points in match-day 24 of the Ghana Premier League.

With Kotoko lying third on the league log with 41 points, a point behind table-toppers Medeama SC and Berekum Chelsea whilst Hearts Of Oak find themselves at the ninth spot with 32 points both sides will hope to prove a point.

But matches involving these two bigwigs of the local league do not follow form guide and Nettey who captained Hearts of Oak to their Caf Champions League victory in 2000 believes that Hearts will show the “never say die spirit” on Sunday and will nick the three points at the end of the match.

“For me the league is not all over, if we (Hearts) beat Kotoko on Sunday, we will climb up the ladder and along the line Kotoko will lose one or two matches, so it’s not all over for Hearts,” Nettey told GBC Sports.

“The boys will show the never say die spirit of the Oak Tree and I am very sure we will beat them on Sunday,” he said.

The first fixture of this tie ended in a pulsating goalless draw game at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium in November 2012.
