New Hearts of Oak technical director Bahtiyar Can Vanli is confident the club can escape relegation after their 1-0 win over Liberty professionals on Wednesday.

The Rainbow club breathed life into their survival campaign with the midweek victory at the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park.

“About the game construction, we didn’t struggle too much and we fought so hard on the field,” Vanli told Starr FM.

“This win is very important for me and the club. It is the beginning of good things to come in the remaining games,” the Turkish manager said.

Hearts had recorded back to back defeats against New Edubiase United and rivals Kotoko, and still languish in the relegation zone despite their win over Liberty.

The Phobians have recorded 32 points from 26 games and are second from the bottom at 15th position on the 16-team log.

However, Vanli is hopeful they are on course to skip relegation with four games to end the season.

“Hearts are on the right path to survive the league and with hard work we will sail through,” he said.

“We have four games to go, but before the season ends, I can assure you that we will reach our target.”

Vanli, 53, was an assistant to Senol Gunes for the Turkish national team during the 2002 Fifa World Cup in Korea-Japan.

Hearts will face Bechem United next at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
