Former Accra Hearts Of Oak coach Herbert Addo has accepted an offer from Kumasi Asante Kotoko to be the assistant coach of the club.
He will further handle the youth development policy of the reigning premier league champions.
The 2002 league winning coach who finished last season as the runner up is expected in Kumasi by the weekend to take up his new role.
Addo was relieved of his post at Hearts Of Oak last week for inconsistencies in team selection.
At Kotoko, he will also have responsibility as the assistant coach to a foreign trainer whose announcement is expected to be made latest by next week.
Three names have emerged as the leading candidates for the job.
They are Hans Dieter Schmidt of King Faisal, Hans Kodric, a German coach who has been in Kumasi for close to a month and former coach Ernst Middendorp who has been seriously linked with Accra Hearts Of Oak.
In related news, Kotoko?s Board of Directors is sticking to its timeline for appointing a chief executive for the club. The chairman of the Board PV Obeng said last week, an official announcement will be made in ten days time.
On Tuesday, a team of consultants has finished interviewing all five short listed applicants.
The leading candidates in the race are former IMC of the club chairman Sylvester Asare Owusu and Kojo Bonsu, the publisher of high society magazine .
