I feared the GFA would interfere with my job – Kwesi Appiah

Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah has revealed in a tribute to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) that he had early fears that his job would be interfered with like it was in the past against local coaches when he was appointed as replacement to his former boss Milovan Rajevac.

Kwesi Appiah who will be controlling affairs from the touch line when Ghana face U.S.A, Germany and Portugal at the group stage of its third consecutive FIFA World Cup appearance has become the first indigenous coach to qualify the Black Stars for the soccer fiesta.

“The FA, they’ve actually surprised me because when I was given the job, I was thinking that these guys would try to interfere with my job. I think for some reason may be they knew who I am and actually kept away. They gave me all the support needed as well as my technical team,” the ex-Ghana captain revealed on Stage Africa.

Kwesi Appiah will lead the Black Stars begin active preparations for the Brazil World Cup from May 25 next year.
