Ghanaian attacking midfielder, Clifford Aboagye has disclosed that he left Europe for North America in a bid to get enough playing time.

Aboagye who won the bronze award at the 2013 U-20 World Cup was touted to become a shining prospect in the world.

However, the Ghanaian wasn’t given enough playing time at his Spanish side, Granada, where he featured for the club’s second division before moving to Mexican side, Queretaro FC.

In an interview with Juliet Bawuah, the former Inter Allies star disclosed that his departure from Europe was inspired by the desire to get regular playing time.

“I wouldn’t say I am proud of my decision but I think I made a bold step. I think I had enough talent to prove myself to get the attention. Playing regularly is the best thing and I have never regretted the decision I made”.

According to Aboagye, playing in the Mexican league is tougher than the Spanish League because they value professionalism and talent.

He said, “In Mexico if you have the talent you will get the opportunity to play. I was only 21 years when I got there from Europe and I had to do all my best to prove to the coach. Spain is more of growing and getting the experience. The Mexican league is very tough and competitive.

“They don’t joke with their football and I was very surprised when I got to Mexico to see the level of professionalism,” Clifford Aboagye added.
