FIFA Referee Samuel Gyasi has told Starr FM Sports that he will retire from refereeing if he’s demoted from the top flight league to the Division One League by the Referees Association of Ghana.

The 43-year-old who has two more years spent in officiating before he reaches the retirement age lost his FIFA badges after failing his fitness test at the El-Wak Stadium last month.

The Nsawam based referee is reported to have lost his slot to another referee as his name has been omitted from the list of referees who have been penciled down by the RAG to officiate matches in the upcoming season.

Gyasi told Starr FM Sports that he will quit officiating if the Referees Association of Ghana demotes him to the second tier.

“If they want me to stop Refereeing, they should tell me point blank that master retire than taking me to division one from FIFA to division one is very disheartening.

“Before somebody should be taking away from the job, that person should be forty five years. That is what the rule says.

“… Seriously division one I don’t believe I will go. It’s even an insult that I move from FIFA then you go to division one then its better I just retire and then keep my name where it is,” Gyasi stated.
