Accra, Oct. 15, GNA - Former national number one goalie, Sammy Adjei has said he has rescinded his decision to resign from the national team after what he termed "sober reflections" and that "he is now ever ready to feature for the Black Stars".
Adjei wrote to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on February 8, 2008 to announce his resignation from the Black Stars, after inactivity on the bench and after losing his number one position in the team to Richard Kingson.
In a later to the GFA on October 8, 2010 and made available to GNA Sports in Accra, Adjei said "I hereby rescind the decision to quit the national team, and wish to inform you that presently, I'm very agile and active.
"I believe strongly that I have a lot to offer this nation, whenever I'm offered the opportunity again and I hope this humble letter meets your favourable consideration to serve a nation which has done so much for my football career". He stated in the letter.
Adjei, has been in an excellent shape in recent times, since re-launching his football career with Accra Hearts of Oak. The experienced goalie played an instrumental role in helping Hearts in the annexation this year's Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Top Four trophy.
He has since the commencement of the Premier League assumed the role of the number one goalie for Hearts and exhibited some spectacular saves in the League that has saved the Phobians from some imminent defeats.
Goalkeeper Adjei, who was a key figure in the 2000 Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Champions League, also made two Nations Cup appearances in 2002 and 2006 in Mali and Egypt respectively before losing the number one spot at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany and in 2008 during the Africa Cup of Nation hosted by Ghana.
