'I’ve never been considered at Udinese'

Ghana international Masahudu Alhassan has voiced his frustration at the lack of opportunity to play in Udinese first team, since joining the Serie A side in 2013.

The 23-year-old left-back was recruited from Genoa to strengthen Udinese defence but he is yet to play a single match with the first team and has been sent on loan twice to Serie B side Latina.

Alhassan seems to have lost the hope of featuring for his parent club someday and now wants to complete another loan deal for the upcoming season.

“Udinese have so many left-backs. They never gave me any chance. Perhaps they feel I will take someone’s position if I am considered.

“Udinese are a purely business club and they give more credence to old players, so no matter how good you are, you will never feature until they sell the player who is already playing your position,” Alhassan told Goal.

“I will have the preseason with them. If the story remains the same and I do not get the chance in the first team, I will go on loan again,” he said.

However, he admitted that the Italian league is very tough due to the presence of many experienced defenders.

“Italian football is very difficult. We the defenders learn a lot. They don’t normally like young defenders. They prefer the old ones with lots of experience. I am still on the learning curve and enjoying football here,” he said.

Alhassan spent the second half of the 2014 / 2015 season on loan at Latina where he played 16 games and scored two goals.

Belgian side Mouscron and newly-promoted Serie A side Carpi are reported to be interested in the Ghanaian, who was a member of the Black Stars squad at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
