Spanish-born Ghanaian youth forward, Inaki Dannis Williams took home a winners medal on Monday night with Athletic Bilbao following their famous triumph over Barcelona.
The 21-year-old following the game passionately from the stands as his Athletic Bilbao side won their first trophy in 31 years as a 1-1 draw with Barcelona at the Nou Camp secured the Spanish Super Cup with a 5-1 aggregate victory.
The half-Ghanaian who has been out of action since the pre-season after suffering an injury did not play part of the game but joined the rest of his team-mates to pick a medal at the Camp Nou following their triumph over the treble-winning Spanish lords.
Bilbao won the first leg 4-0 but Barcelona threatened a comeback with Lionel Messi’s close-range finish. Barca defender Gerard Pique was sent-off after the break and Aritz Aduriz struck late on to seal it for Bilbao.
Inaki was born to a Ghanaian father and Liberian mother but is yet to be capped by any of the African countries however his country of birth (Spain) have capped him at U21 level.
It is unclear whether he wants to follow in the footsteps of Marco Senna to become the next black player to play for Spain La Furia Roja.
