Cape Coast, Jan 26, GNA - The Central Region Inter Schools and Colleges Milo Soccer Championship match between Cape Coast Technical Institute (CAPETECH) and Potsin Ahmadyia Secondary School played at the Robert Mensah Stadium, at Cape Coast on Thursday ended abruptly in the 30th minute.

Postin Secondary School were leading 2-0 at the time of the incident.

The match, which was agreed to be played in an empty stadium to prevent any rout was stopped by the organisers, when about 700 students of CAPETECH broke the various gates of the stadium and forced themselves into the arena.

As soon as the match was stopped, some of the students armed with sticks and clubs hurled stones at the match officials resulting in a stampede.

Two persons whose identity was not immediately known were injured while two students of CAPETECH were arrested.

The few policemen on duty who could not control the crowd called for additional security presence to help disperse the unruly students of CAPETECH who had ganged up outside in readiness to beat the players of their opponents. The players were however whisked into a bus of Saltpond Methodist High School to safety. 26 Jan 06
