Asante Kotoko midfielder Jackson Owusu underwent a successful “a plating and screwing” surgery at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.
Owusu suffered a fracture of the tibia and fibula early Sunday morning while playing in a "Sunday Special'' match.
He was quickly rushed to the hospital. A surgery was to be performed the next day after his injured left foot was cast in Plaster of Paris (POP).
“The tibia was compounded. For the fibula, it was a simple fracture. What he underwent is called plating and screwing. It’s to hold the two fragmented segments [broken bones], ” Kotoko physiotherapist told asantekotokosc.com
A rehabilitation process, expected to be in three phases has now started.
Owusu has been ruled out of the 2016 season which starts this weekend.
