If there is a virtue that has endeared Lepowura M.N.D. Jawula to World Cup winner Marcel Desailly, then it is the latter’s high sense of nationalism.

The former GFA chief believes the construction of the Lizzy Sports Complex is ample testimony of Desailly’s love for the land of his birth.

At the press launch of the second Samsung Corporate Football league before the Easter break at the Complex in Accra, where Alhaji chaired the function, he described the former AC Milan/Chelsea star as a true son of Ghana.

The Lepowura indicated that despite Marcel’s busy international schedule, he finds time to visit and make sure what he has put his hands to (Lizzy Complex) succeeds, and given the needed media support, he will redirect his other investments to Ghana.

“I am glad to associate myself with Marcel because of his high sense of nationalism. He has strong feelings for Ghana. When France won the World Cup he quickly arranged a visit to Ghana.

“He has more up his sleeves in terms of investments. What you see here is on a fraction, let’s say about five percent, of his investments. He is a role model, and he needs the media to continue his good works,” Alhaji noted.

He ranked him as a soccer maestro having gone through the ranks and walked the corridors of football greats.

Marcel, born Odenke Abbey in Accra on September 7, 1968, was a member of the France 1998 squad that won the prestigious World Cup on home soil, and the Euro 2000 silverware.
