Jeff Schlupp’s impressive run in the Premiership has earned him the praise of his head coach ahead of the clash with Aston Villa. The English-born Ghanaian international has been duly credited by Claudio Ranieri to cap dream start to the 2015/16 Barclays Premiership season.

Their French trainer attributed the strong performances of the Foxes to the lung-busting runs from their wide men in the premiership. Ranieri revealed “The overlapping runs of defenders Jeffrey Schlupp and Ritchie De Laet add to City’s danger on the flank.

The Club further bolstered our wide options with the addition of winger Nathan Dyer from Swansea City on a season-long loan on deadline day”.

Commenting on Dyer, Ranieri added: “I wanted another winger because I have just two wingers plus Joe Dodoo, who scored three goals in the cup, but I needed another because the wingers have to run a lot.

“That is important during the match to have some chances to change. Nathan is very fast and has good ability with the ball, and while one-on-one it’s very hard to stop him. He can cross and pass.”

The darting runs of four-goal Riyad Mahrez combined with the pace and delivery of Marc Albrighton have caused no end of problems for City’s opponents in 2015/16.

“We play 4-2-3-1 so he can think to attack, of course, to defend too. His quality is very high. He’s important for us like Mahrez.”

Leicester City is one of two clubs yet to lose a league in the 5 week old English Premiership. The Foxes welcome Tim Sherwood’s Aston Villa in the fifth round of matches on English soil with the likelihood of Jordan Ayew meeting Jeff Schlup as opponents for the very first time.
