Defender John Boye is looking to not just make the national team's CAN 2012 final squad after arriving at the Black Stars training camp in Rustenburg, South Africa Sunday night, the France based player is raring to go and has revealed a keeness to play a vital role in Ghana's campaign at the tournament itself.

With a defender certain to be among the two players set to be dropped, Boye says he is looking beyond making Serbian tactician Goran Stevanovic's 23-man squad, to making a massive contribution in what he envisages as a successful end to the nation's quest for that elusive 5th African title.

"I'm excited and honoured to play for my nation, it's the dream of every footballer to play for their nation but to play at the Africa Cup of Nations will be special. It will be a dream come true and I can't wait to do battle for Ghana.

"I'm going to work hard to get into the team, I want to play in many matches because I think my time has come to pay Ghana back," John Boye said.

Coming off a good season thus far for Rennes for whom he was again on 90 minutes action over the weekend, the former Heart of Lions defender is calling on Ghanaians to rally behind the national team as the tournamnet kicks off next weekend.

He told ALL SPORTS: "We know it's been a long time since Ghana won this tournament and we cannot wait any longer. We the players will work very hard to win it this time but Ghanaians must not forget to remember us in their prayers. We are bringing the cup home."
