Champion club Accra Hearts of Oak have asked their headcoach coach, Cecil Jones Attuquayefio to proceed on leave with immediate effect. No reasons were given for the action.
A release from the club’s management signed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr Ato Ahwoi, said in the absence of Attuquayefio, Assistant Coach Ofei Ansah is to act.
It is however believed that the decision to place Jones on ice stems from the recent dismal performance of the club culminating in the 0-2 loss to Kumasi Asante Kotoko in their 19th week liner on September 16.
Hearts could also not take advantage of a 0-1 loss by Kotoko at the weekend to stretch their lead on the league table as they drew 1-1 with Bofoakwa Tano in a match in which the Phobians were found wanting at the closing stages.
Jones has since joining Hearts, secured the club four league titles plus an African Champions League and an African Super Champions League trophies which the club won last year.
He is the continent’s best coach for the 2000 soccer season for the laurels he achieved with Hearts
