Olympique Marseille attacking midfielder Jordan Ayew has said he was shocked when he heard news of his call-up to the Ghana squad for the African Nations Cup qualifier against Swaziland.
“I must say that I was a bit shocked when my club told me about an invitation to play for the Black Stars because I was also thinking about playing for the Under-20s to qualify for the African Cup,” the Ghana FA website quoted him as saying.
“But I’m ready and prepared to play my part,” the attacking player added.
Ayew, the youngest player in the 22-man squad named by Rajevac, will be chasing his first cap on September 5 when Ghana travel to Swaziland for the opening Group I game in Lombamba.
With competition for places in the squad for next month's African Nations Cup qualifying high, Jordan, who will be arriving with his team-mate and elder brother, Andre, is anxious to record his first international appearance.
