Ghana captain Jordan Opoku says playing their quarter-final at ‘home’ Bloemfontein against DR Congo could play to their advantage.
The local Black Stars extended their stay in Bloemfontein after topping Group C with seven points.
They will host the Leopards, who played all matches in Polokwane and finished runners up in Group D, at the Free State Stadium in Mangaung on Sunday.
“It is some kind of advantage. We have stayed in Bloemfontein for some time. We’re familiar with the people; the fans and the pitch,” Opoku said.
“At the end of the day, we will go all out to win. That is what we will do. We want to win the trophy.”
Opoku was a member of the Ghana team which beat DR Congo 3-0 in the Group stage but lost 2-0 in the final of the maiden tournament hosted by Ivory Coast in 2009.
