Sulley Muntari has backed Jordan Ayew to be Ghana’s secret weapon in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, feeling that his lack of profile around the world could give the Africans the element of surprise.

The 22-year-old has hogged the headlines following his impressive hat-trick against South Korea in their last pre-World Cup friendly in Miami on Monday night.

The Marseille striker profited from Abdul Majeed Waris’ early knock to stake a claim for a starting place with his first hat-trick for the African powerhouse.

The former Sochaux loanee is preparing to take part in his first World Cup in the South American country and Muntari has been impressed by his true talent, feeling that he could announce himself on the worldwide scene with an impressive tournament that could take a lot of people by surprise.

“We have a crop of talented players coming through but I think Jordan Ayew will have a fine tournament,” Muntari said.

"I expect him to be a revelation at the World Cup. Fans must be patient with him because he’s one of our future stars.

“He just needs to keep calm and focus and I tell you the world will truly see his potential. He will surprise the world.

“The same can be said of Waris and other emerging forces,” he stressed.

Ghana will battle USA, Germany and Portugal in group G.
