Juve ask Middlesbrough to wait over Appiah

Talks between Juventus and Middlesbrough over the future of midfielder Stephen Appiah have stalled.

Boro chief Keith Lamb was in Turin last week for negotiations over the Ghana captain, with an initial loan deal proposed for the midfielder.

Juve director general Luciano Moggi was happy with the proposal as he had AS Roma midfielder Mancini lined up as Appiah's replacement.

However, with FIFA banning Roma from any incoming transfers for 12 months, that has immediately put in doubt the capital club's plans of selling Mancini to Juve.

Moggi has scheduled a meeting with Roma executive director Rosella Sensi to discuss Mancini and has asked Boro to hold off until the picture is clearer.
