Ghanaian midfield general Stephen Appiah will not be moving to Juventus any time soon, unless the Bianconeri get rid of a non-EU classified player. The Bianconeri are reportedly looking for a strong and creative player to shore up the midfield and relaunch attacks once the ball has been won. Appiah is a typical candidate for this position and a return to the club he once played for seemed likely.
At first Juve showed interest in Barcelona's Yaya Toure but, with the player saying he is happy in Spain, attentions have now turned to Appiah who is a free agent after leaving Fenerbahce this summer.
The Turin club have been searching the market ever since the introduction of Christian Poulsen, which is seen as an unsuccessful transfer by many experts. A number of top European clubs are interested in the Ghana star, but the Bianconeri had seemed close to an agreement on many occasions. As yet, nothing has come of it.
A major obstacle is standing in the way of a potential transfer however, as the Italian club already has the maximum number of authorized non-EU players which cannot be exceeded at the moment. This means that Appiah would only be allowed to join Juventus after a current non-EU player leaves the club.
