German legend Stefan Effenberg has urged Schalke to bench Kevin-Prince Boateng following his disastrous display in their 2-1 defeat against Hannover 96.
The Ghanaian international has been criticized for his poor performance with manager Jens Keller signaling him out for his shallow display for the Royal Blues in their opening Bundesliga game.
German legend Stefan Effenberg has waded into the poor performance of the 27-year-old and wants him benched in subsequent matches.
“He’s been around longer and was only in 100% fit in a few games,” he said.
“At first I was thrilled with his performance and his commitment.
“If one claims to be leader in the team and play only 10 minutes, it underpins his performance.
“I am sorry but Mr Boateng is not good enough to make the starting lineup.
Boateng is serving an indefinite suspension from the Black Stars after he verbally assaulted coach Kwesi Appiah during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
