King Faisal Clash With NSC

Wed, 21 Jul 2004 Source: --

King Faisal football club are set for a financial tussle with the National Sports Council over a share of their gate proceeds generated during their abortive CAF Confederations Cup campaign.

The continental debutants are in a dire financial predicament and say they are in no position to meet the NSC?s demand.

Faisal, like all the other three clubs in continental competitions, are required to pay five per cent of whatever gains they made t o the NSC for the use of the Kumasi Sports Stadium.

But George Amoako, the Chief Executive Officer of the Kumasi-based club, insists, the club is beset with so much losses they cannot pay the five per cent even if they wanted to.

The National Sports Council considers Faisal?s stance untenable.

The Acting Chief executive of the council, Albert Agboso, told JoySports that the five per cent is non-negotiable, as the stadiums must be maintained.

He says unless Faisal are able to prove that their net profits from the competition is zero, the NSC will definitely collect its share of whatever minute gains they made
