Sunyani (B/A), Aug. 21, GNA 96 Kumasi King Faisal kick-started their campaign for this year's premiership title with a 1-0 win over Tano Bofoakwa at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

Playing at their adopted home ground, the Kumasi lads played impressively to the admiration and cheers of their vociferous fans when left Winger Benjamin Wilson, laid a good through ball on the path of striker, Samed Oppong, who made no mistake to struck home in the 28th minute.

It was King Faisal who dominated proceedings in the first ten minutes with series of attacks in the goal area of Bofoakwa but none of the chances were converted by the strikers upfront.

They also failed to make good use of the numerous corner kicks that came their way.

In the dying minutes of the first half, Bofoakwa tried to lift up their game in search of the equaliser as they string their passes from the wings, but the solid defensive build-up of the Faisal lads cut back out the dangerous passes.

Bofoakwa kept the pressure on Faisal after the recess but their efforts were ably handled by the defencemen of Faisal. Faisal's head striker Samed Oppong again hit the wood work in the 60th minute after as Bofo had made its second substitution in an attempt to beef up their attack.

Referee Charles Dowuona from Accra, who officiated the match, showed yellow cards to Bofo's players Francis Darko and Abdulai Seidu for dangerous tackles on Eric Nkansah of Faisal in the 68th and 80th minutes.

Bofo failed to utilize many of the aerial balls as the game gradually wrapped up, although they had height advantage over their Kumasi lads.

The Sunyani lads rather gave away balls freely to their opponents, thus incurring the displeasure of their supporters. 21 Aug. 06
