Kingson moves to France for Treatment

Black Stars first choice goalkeeper, Richard ‘Oleley’ Kingson, will on Tuesday move from his base in England to France as he undergoes treatment to his injury sustained during the last edition of the CAF MTN African Cup of Nations last January.

The goalie, who suffered injury to his waist after falling heavily from a clash with Cameroon’s and Spanish side Barcelona star striker, Samuel Eto’o during an air-borne tussle with the player in the semi-final game has since found it difficult gaining full recovery after minor treatment by medics of his English side, Birmingham City.

This has robbed the Ghanaian goalie of a first team place for Birmingham since his return from native Ghana, where the CAN 2008 was hosted. Speaking in a telephone interview on Sunday afternoon to confirm the story, Kingson claimed his travel

Despite suffering the injury during an assignment for his national side, Ghana, expenses of Kingson’s travel and treatment will be borne by his current manager, Fabien Piveteau, himself a French national. Fabien also doubles as the manager of Ghanaian Chelsea star, Michael Essien, whose side jumped to the second spot of the English Premier League table after a lone goal victory over visiting Middlesbrough on Sunday.

Kingson claimed he had informed team officials during the Cup of Nations that he cannot honor any game again after picking the injury during the encounter with Cameroon but had a surprise call and coupled with several plea from most of his teammates to try and occupy the for the last time since his assistant Sammy Adjei, had decided not to keep the post for the third place game.

According to Kingson, he loves the Black Stars so dearly that he had to heed to their plea and that of some technical staff since they claimed the encounter with Ivory Coast appears to be a though task for third place goalie Fatau Dauda to handle.

Kingson, who was in action for Ghana last Wednesday during an international friendly against Mexico in London had to be substituted during the commencement of the second half after complaining of severe pains.

Though not confirmed yet, the Ghanaian goalkeeper is likely to be out for at least three weeks.

Kingson, the big brother of Laryea Kingson, who plays for Scottish side Hearts, featured for Ghanaian side Great Olympics before joining Turkish giants, Galatasaray in 1996 after the Atlanta Olympic Games in the U.S.A
