Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson has cut ties with Doxa Katokopia and is in Turkey to sign with Balikesirspor.

The veteran shot-stopper has capitalised on a clause in his contract to move on after the Cypriot top flight side denied an initial offer from the Turkish second-tier club.

“Kingson terminated his contract with Doxa and travelled to Balikesir yesterday [Wednesday]. I didn’t take him there though; I only helped him to get a team in Cyprus. He is there [Turkey] now to complete his move to Bal?kesirspor as the bottlenecks which stalled the initial negotiations have been solved,” agent Tekin Berinci, told Footy-Ghana.com.

The 36-year-old, who manned the post for the Black Stars in their two previous World Cup appearances, is expected to sign a two-and-half year contract in Turkey. He joined Doxa in 2013 after going clubless for almost two years and made 10 appearances for them earning him a Ghana recall during the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia.

The Ghana international has previously played for Galatasaray, Sakaryaspor , Goztepe, Antalyaspor, Elazgspor, Ankaraspor, Blackpool and Wigan.
