Kojo Bonsu is wrong - Nyaho Tamakloe

Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe, former chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), and Accra Hearts of Oak, has joined a growing number of soccer pundits who have rubbished calls by businessman Kojo Bonsu, for the Government to directly oversee the activities of the GFA. On Monday, the Daily Graphic published a call by the Accra-based businessman and publisher of Agoo Magazine suggesting that the government set up a Public Interest Committee to check indiscipline and corruption in football administration. He cited Article 70 of the GFA statutes which makes provision for the formation of such a committee. Since the Graphic publication Mr. Bonsu has tried to drum up support for his proposal by visiting various radio stations in the capital. He however refused requests by the producers of Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana, to join the FA President Kwasi Nyantakyi on the show Tuesday night.

Speaking to the Weekend World, Dr. Tamakloe described the call as totally unnecessary, especially when the GFA should now be focusing on preparations for the African Cup of Nations, and the World Cup. He added that the present GFA administration is doing a great job and must be allowed to continue without unnecessary interference.

“I don’t know where Mr. Bonsu is coming from, this is uncalled for, and the autonomy of the FA must be respected” he said. Dr. Tamakloe further stated that the Nyantakyi administration has made “reasonable progress”, and should be left to do their job.
