Kotoko, Ashgod to clash for Kick Malaria Cup

Asante Kotoko are set to clash AshGold in a regional derby as the two compete in a two-leg encounter for the Kick Malaria Out of Africa Cup.

The matches, scheduled for Obuasi Len Clay Stadium and the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, on December 21 and 28 respectively is an initiative of Kick Malaria Out of Africa, a Non-Governmental Organization using sports to eradicate malaria and cholera.

Kwabena Osei-Bonsu, Executive Director of the NGO said the winner will participate in an international tournament with some selected Europeans teams in South Africa.

He said sponsors of the matches had agreed to support the NGO for the next 10 years, with Kotoko expected to benefit from the deal with an ultra-modern training facility for the first four years and a stadium subsequently.
