Kotoko Gives FA ultimatum

The management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has given the Ghana FA a seven-day ultimatum to pay back losses after the postponed game with Adansiman.

The FA have to repay Asante Kotoko an amount of $US 7,058 in addition to a further $US 26,000, or risk of being sued for financial losses to the club. The matter - that could yet go to court - hinges heavily on the outcome of the kind of response which the new FA’s management board gives to the demands of Asante Kotoko, who are claiming damages.

Asante Kotoko's decision stems from the fact that their outstanding ninth week league fixture with Adansiman United was postponed, without the approval of the club.

The breakdown of Asante Kotoko's claimed financial losses, as contained in a letter submitted last week by their solicitor to the FA, includes the cost of flying players from South Africa to Ghana to honour the match against Adansiman for a fee of $US 26,000.

In addition to this fee, there is also the $US 3,300 cost of advertising on television and radio, and other losses adding up to a similar sums.
