The well attended game between the Phobians and the Porcupine Warriors yielded a whopping Gh¢135,000
The pre-season game between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak produced a gross income of Gh¢135,000 (US$43,000) from gate proceeds.
The Porcupine Warriors shocked their traditional rivals in a 2-0 friendly encounter Monday that witnessed a packed stadium at Kumasi.
“The support yesterday was massive and I must admit it made the game interesting. We made a gross of Gh¢135,000 (1.37 billion old Cedis),” Kotoko CEO Opoku Nti told Goal Ghana.
“It will be shared 50-50 after all the deductions and I believe we will experience another great game in Accra on Sunday in the second league.”
He added: “We [Kotoko] hope to record a double over Hearts because the team is in good shape. The new players drafted into the team showed a lot of promises but more will be expected from them this season.”
The second league is expected to take place on Sunday, October 12 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
