Ghana?s Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak have managed to stay amongst the top ten clubs in Africa according to a ranking released by the continent?s soccer governing body-CAF.
The Confederation African Football ranked the porcupine warriors third on the log with their archrivals, Accra Hearts of Oak taking the ninth spot.
Both Ghanaian club?s have won the African clubs championship in the past.
Asante Kotoko, the first Ghanaian club to win the competition managed to win the trophy on two occasions in 1979 and 1983.
But the phobians also made history as the first Ghanaian side to win the new edition of the competition christened, the Champions League in the 2001 league season.
The Phobians completed a successful year by adding the African Super Cup to their continental silver ware.
In 2004, Hearts of Oak achieved another success after the beating Asante Kotoko on home soil to win the African Confederation Cup.
Egypt?s Al Ahly and Zamalek occupy the first and second positions in the rankings.
The ranking is based on performance of the clubs from the first edition of CAF Inter-Clubs competition, which started in 1965.
