ASANTE KOTOKO will now use the Cape Coast Robert Mensah Stadium as its home ground, after losing interest in the one-time favourite home ground, Konongo “Waterloo” Park, reports Isaac Franklin.

Kotoko will return to its traditional home pitch, the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, when renovation work ends next year.

Kotoko petitioned the FA for change of home venue, because of low returns from Konongo, its adopted home ground, according to officials of the club. The club, which had the capability of grossing well over ¢100 million on certain match days at the Baba Yara Stadium, in Kumasi, claimed to be picking up some paltry figures at the Konongo ground in the range of ¢10 and ¢15 million.

The Porcupine Warriors had earlier written to the Ghana Football Association, seeking the adoption of the Sunyani Coronation Park as its home pitch for the Onetouch Premiership fixtures.

However, the Kumasi-based club settled on the Robert Mensah Stadium, since three clubs– Bofoakwa Tano and King Faisal Babies both Premiership sides and B.A United, a Division One side, use the Coronation Park, currently.
