Kotoko Steps Up CEO Hunt

ASANTE KOTOKO has not relented its efforts at searching for a loyal member to succeed the immediate past chief executive officer (CEO), Major (rtd) Lawrence Yaw Larson.

Contrary to media speculations that the club?s interim management team (IMT) might be handed another year in office, it is expected to hand over the baton to a new CEO.

Painstaking information, from the club?s board indicates, a new CEO would soon be appointed, to take charge of Kotoko, and would work alongside the existing IMT.

The motive is to ensure a smooth transition, which would prevent a recurrence of the past bitterness between successors and predecessors.

The likes of Messrs Kojo Bonsu, Sylvester Asare Owusu, George Amoako, as well as Jerry Asare, have submitted their applications to vie for the vacant post. However, Kotoko board is feverishly scrutinising the noted Kotoko members, so as to settle on a loyal and financially-sound member of the club, who must, or resides in Kumasi.

Aside the preceding qualities required of the new CEO, he is expected to possess the requisite administrative expertise, and a solid educational background.

Ironically, the club is bent on shying away from the scheme of depending on beneficiaries, who are appointed to take charge of Kotoko. Even, before the Kotoko board unveils the new CEO to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for the final decision to be taken, Sylvester and Jerry are leading the pack in the race, in a fierce struggle for the vacant post.
