Kumasi, Aug.7, GNA -The large army of supporters of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oaks, the country's two most glamorous football clubs, have been called upon to exhibit a high sense of discipline and comportment during the 13th week titanic Kinapharma Premier league clash at the Kumasi sports stadium on Sunday.

Mr Opoku-Agyeman Prempeh, Managing Director of Lakayana Company Limited, who made the call through the Ghana News Agency, said the May 9, Accra stadium disaster should serve as a constant reminder to them about the need to avoid soccer violence and hooliganism.

He pointed out that football is "a game and not war" saying, "it is either won or lost and which ever way it goes, we should learn to accept it in good faith".

Mr Opoku-Agyeman said the nation could not afford to see "our able-bodied youth get maimed or perished just in the name of football". He said with the controversy over the transfer of Charles Taylor from Hearts to Kotoko now over, one would expect that the two clubs, their officials and fans would show sportsmanship during and after the match.

He also drew attention to the need for the match officials to be firm and fair in officiating and to avoid bias and bad decisions that can spark off trouble.

Mr Opoku-Agyemang advised the media, particularly the FM Radio Sports Presenters to be circumspect in their discussions of the match in order not to create unnecessary tension.
