Kumasi, Jan. 01, GNA - Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Wednesday whipped the Benin national Under-20 team 4-0 in Kumasi in their final brush up towards their titanic first leg Confederation Cup match against their archrivals, Accra Hearts of Oak at the Ohene Djan stadium on Sunday. Ever improving Michael Ofosu Appiah put Kotoko ahead in the 22nd minute after putting the Benin team under severe pressure. Disaster nearly struck Kotoko as their dependable defender, Issah Ahmed sustained a cut on the head when he collided with a Beninois defender in a mid-air tussle in the 30th minute and was promptly replaced by William Thompson.

Playing as if that was the final match against Hearts, Kotoko surged forward and raised the tally to 2-0 in the 32nd minute through a penalty expertly taken by Stephen Oduro after a Beninois defender handled Nana Arhin Duah's goal bound shot.

The match became a one-sided affair as Kotoko turned the heat on the Beninois who managed with occasional runs but could do very little to find the net.

It therefore came as a matter of course when Frank Osei netted the third goal for Kotoko in the 54th minute from an Elvis Opoku's tailor measured pass.

Cameroonian-import, Imbola Sanjie completed the rout in the 65th minute when he pounced on a loose ball, raced with it and disposed of two defenders before planting the ball in the net for Kotoko's fourth goal.
