Public Relations Officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Obed Acheampong has dismissed reports suggesting Kotoko are in talks with former Hearts of Oak coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi and Maxwell Konadu to take over the Kotoko coaching role after they parted ways with their coach last Sunday.

A statement released by Kotoko on Sunday night indicated that Kotoko have parted ways with the Croat who was in charge for only eleven league matches.

''Zdravko’s contract has been terminated. He has accepted the official notification given to him. Assistant coach, Godwin Ablordey will train with the team until further notice.''

Obed Acheampong speaking on Football 360 on Monday night told host Nutifafa Attah that the decision to sack the Croat goes beyond the fans’ dissatisfaction despite admitting the fans played a role.

“It goes beyond the request of the fans. But, the cry of the fans is also part of it. But the recent performance of the club has been a bit down and both parties came into an agreement that a change might change the fortunes of the club,” Obed stated.

Obed Acheampong however dismissed reports that Kotoko is considering a move for Kenichi Yatsuhashi or Maxwell Konadu.

“As of this moment Management of Kotoko have not contacted any coach, so the names that are popping up is not true. There is no name onboard now, management will meet and look for the suitable person,” Obed Acheampong revealed.

Kotoko have since named Godwin Ablordey as care-taker coach. Kotoko are third on the league table with 19 points.

Football 360 now airs on Kwese Free Sports, Mondays, 6:30-8pm.
