Asante Kotoko stop-gap head coach Michael Osei has revealed he sent defender Abeiku Ainooson on loan because he could not assure him of regular playing time.

Ainooson, 25, reverted to the Porcupines after being released by Sudanese side Al Hilal Omdurman in March.

Kotoko have farmed out the former Local Black Stars stalwart defender to Ghana Premier League rivals Dreams FC for remainder of the season.

Stop-gap coach Michael Osei has explained the reason behind his decision to farm out the central defender.

"Yes it is true we had to take a decision on Ainooson because looking at the number of central defenders available we couldn't have kept him," he told Accra-based Oman FC.

He says Kotoko expected Ainooson to end the season at Al Hilal.

"The loan agreement was to the end of the season so it became a different conversation."

Kotoko have picked a stead spring in their steps after bagging four wins from their last five league games and climbing fourth on the league table, trailing leaders Hearts of Oak by four points.

Osei is not focused on the bitter rivals but wants to fully concentrate on upcoming games.

"We are focusing on our games and I'm sure we will get to where we want to restore the club to."

Kotoko host struggling Inter Allies at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.
