Kotoko hold maiden Management meeting ahead of 2016/17 season

The Management of Kotoko held their first official meeting today, December 17, 2016, Head of Communications, Obed Acheampong has told Asantekotokos.com.

Executive Chairman, Dr. Kwame Kyei will chair the meeting which will take place in Kumasi.

Dr. Kyei has over the last week appointed five people to help him steer affairs of the club.

The five are Ernest Owusu Ansah – Operations; Thomas Boakye Agyeman, Accra Representative, and Premier League Board member; Yaw Boafo – Head of Legal Team; Rose Padmore Yeboah – Administrative Manager and Obed Acheampong – Head of Communications.

Although the Executive Chairman and his management members have been discussing a wide-range of issues on the club and its progress in the next season, and beyond, Saturday’s official gathering surely will set the tone of some major forward-looking decisions for the upcoming season.

Management met for the second time to continue discussions on critical areas of the club’s development, which they started on Saturday night.

Executive Chairman, Dr. Kwame Kyei and his team of managers on Saturday evening convened at Sports Hotel, Kumasi for their maiden meeting on various plans for the club as the new season approaches.

Topmost among the plans discussed at the meeting was the strength of the technical team and the playing body. After a very lively introduction of members present, interim head coach, Michael Osei, presented a technical report.

The coach explained the current strength of the playing body while making forecasts for the 2016/17 season. Michael first focused on players that he believes must be maintained before looking at those that must be put on transfer.

He as well presented a list of targeted players and explained why their presence in the team next season would be helpful. The coach further gave a comprehensive report on injury situation in the team – the recovery rate of injured players and what needs to be done to ensure that, injured players recover in good time.

Management critically scrutinized the coach’s list of players to be retained, the ones to be transferred and those to be recruited. They however couldn’t finish that work and thus moved their sitting to Sunday afternoon.

Also present at the meeting was Kotoko Express Associate Editor, Jerome Otchere, who was grilled on the operations of Kotoko Express, which has been off the newsstands since September 22, 2016.

Jerome Otchere was queried on the viability of the club’s official newspaper, which he defended, pointing out that, Kotoko Express needed sound management practices to be more relevant. Besides the debt situation of the paper, Jerome answered questions on staff strength and performance.

Management expressed their commitment to see the return of Kotoko Express and its functionality apart from strengthening of the various media channels of the club. Jerome Otchere was directed to show up on Sunday afternoon to give the way forward for Kotoko Express’ come back in the shortest possible time.

Besides Michael Osei’s technical report and Kotoko Express’ way forward, today's meeting dwelt on other pertinent issues the new administration hopes to address.

All five management members were in attendance of the meeting which started at 7pm and closed a little after 11pm. It was chaired by the Executive Chairman.
