Kotoko's Head Coach resigns from post

Kumasi, May 11, GNA - The head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Isaac 'Opeele' Boateng is said to have tendered in his resignation letter soon after Kotoko drew 1-1 with Kessben F/C in their Glo Premier League match in Kumasi on Sunday. His decision according to sources follows the alleged divisions among management members and the playing body which he said had made his job difficult.

A source at the management, confirming the resignation to the GNA Sports in Kumasi on Monday said the coach was, however, impressed upon to rescind his decision as management fought hard to address the challenges militating against the performance of Kotoko. The embattled coach has of late attributed the current woes of the Club to the work of evil forces.

"What we are going through calls for a more in-depth analysis of the situation in the interest of the club since some of the problems bother on spirituality", he stated, adding that the current misfortunes could not be attributed to the technical team alone. Speaking to newsmen in Kumasi, Coach Boateng said it was therefore prudent that supporters and stakeholders shun apportioning blames, pray for the Club and commit resources towards reviving the team's spirit to enhance their performance.

Coach Boateng was not happy of what he described as clear sabotage against him by some people close to the team ever since he took over the technical affairs of the Club a couple of months ago. "I am ready to put my job on the line and serve as an assistant Coach if that would serve the interest of the Club in the long term", he lamented. Coach Opeele Boateng appealed to the supporters to remain focused and not be discouraged following the team's dismal performance in recent times since Kotoko was capable of bouncing back to winning ways if the right structures were put in place.
