Asante Kotoko striker Seidu Bancey says he wants his efforts to help the Premier League champions to retain the league trophy for the third straight time rather than individually targeting the Premier League goal king award.

The 23-year-old's 29th minute strong drive from 25 yards produced the only goal and winner of last Sunday’s Super Clash between arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.

The much savored win helped the Porcupine Warriors stretch their unbeaten run against Hearts in Accra into a fourth year.

Bancey has carried his impressive form from the tail end of last season into the new season and has scored twice in two games for his side but says he is not obsessed about succeeding previous goal king winner Mahatma Otoo.

“Yeah, the goals are gradually coming; I’ve scored twice in both league games played so far and I would very much love to do it more against my former club Edubiase at the Baba Yara Stadium next Sunday.”

I’m more concerned about helping the team to win all our matches if possible rather than personal accolade. If by the end of the season, I find myself on top of the scorers’ chart, that will be an added bonus,” Bancey told Kumasi-based Boss FM.

Asante Kotoko hold a 100 per cent record after two matches of the 2013/14 Ghana Premier League and will play host to New Edubiase United on match-day 3.
