Kotoko have delivered an official letter to their arch-rivals Hearts seeking to sign the top striker and kingpin Mahatma Otoo from the Accra side, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The move by Kotoko comes as a MASSIVE SHOCK for the Phobians especially coming just three days before the two sides clash in Ghana’s biggest match of the season.

Ghanasoccernet.com can confirm that Hearts accountant Hackman Aidoo received the letter at 16:15 GMT (4:15 local time).

The letter was delivered by Nana Kwame, one of Kotoko’s leading representatives in Accra which confirmed giving the letter to Hearts.

“I can confirm that I have delivered a letter to Hearts of Oak seeking the services of Mahatma Otoo this afternoon,” Nana Kwame said.

Kotoko rejected the suggestion that the delivery of the letter is timed to disrupt the Phobians from concentrating on the upcoming match on Sunday.

“The law states that we should write a letter to seek the services of a player. This is the second time that we have written to Hearts to seek the services in Mahatma,” he said.

Otoo’s contract with the capital-based side runs out at the end of the current campaign but has reportedly refused to renew a one-year extension offered by the club.

With less than six months left on his current, the former Sporting Mirren man is allowed to hold discussions with any club of his choice ahead of a potential move.

Kotoko have officially slapped in a letter requesting to begin discussions with the player ahead of their big clash on Sunday.

It is, however, unclear if Kotoko is serious about purchasing the player or using that as a ploy to destabilise his concentration and that of the team ahead of the ‘Super Sunday’ clash on May 5.
