Kotoko under pressure to beat Lions

Coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani couldn’t have arrived at a better time for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, with the Glo Ghana Premier League champions still chasing a first win when they host Heart of Lions on Match Day 3 of the new season.

Coach Dramani, fresh from winning a historic bronze medal with the Black Maidens ate the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan, takes full charge of Kotoko for the first time since his appointment to replace Maxwell Konadu. He has to be ready now because victory remains the only option against bogey side Lions as the champions boast a paltry two points from the opening two games of their title defence.

Match Day 3 however begins on Saturday when Kotoko’s bitter rivals and a direct opponent for the title, Hearts of Oak make their second straight away trip to the Tema Stadium as guests of Ebusua Dwarfs who are still serving a 12-match home ban imposed last season for crowd trouble in Cape Coast.

Hearts should have won when they drew 1-1 against Tema Youth at the same venue on Match Day one but after gaining their first win convincingly against Edubiase amid captain Mahatma Otoo on song, Hearts should be confident even against bogey side Dwarfs.

Medeama, the only side with maximum points, face a tough test away to Wa All Stars, whilst also favourites Chelsea face off against Arsenals in the Berekum derby.

Ashgold are away to Liberty Professionals with both sides still seeking a first win whereas sensational new boys Amidaus look set to extend their points build up to seven from a possible nine if they can beat returnees King Faisal in Tema on Sunday.

Elsewhere, RTU host Aduana in Tamale and Edubiase chase their first points in Bekwai against Tema Youth, the only away victors on match day 2.
