Head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Michael Osei has advised his players to fight for the league after winning the President cup against arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.
It was the second time both the clubs are playing at the Accra Sports Stadium after Kotoko stunned Hearts of Oak by a goal to nothing in the first encounter with goalkeeper Soulama Abdulaye committing a blander mistake which resulted to the goal. The Warriors lift the trophy in front of their rivals winning through a penalty shootouts.
“It was a very difficult match and both teams did very well. It very interesting match as well and I believe the spectators that came enjoyed the match. He told Asempa Sports.
“It was a balance game that everyone could have won but we dominated more than them but we couldn’t get any goal until penalty shot out. I will congratulates my players because they have done a very good job.
He continued, “As a young coach, it means a lot to me winning this trophy and I am very happy and I think we deserve to win something and we are still working behind closed doors. We couldn’t go through to the finals of the FA Cup competition so winning the President Cup, the obvious target is the league and I know we will get the opportunity to play in Africa.
“I have a strong team and better options because I have a very bench and every change is very easy for me so we will make sure that we work very hard and make sure that we win all our upcoming games.” He added.
Kotoko had a rocky start of the season but have managed to stamp on their feet and will play Inter Allies in their upcoming league fixtures at the Tema Sports Stadium.
